Who are the Livies team?
Livies is a local family business, an enterprise, kick started by two parents (cousins) that want to create a ‘kinder cafe’ and venue space, open and welcoming to all local families.
As parents to young children, the Livies founders are acutely aware of the challenges facing modern families. Livies aims to cultivate communities to enhance the lives of families across the UK, by creating welcoming spaces outside the home for them to have fun, grow and thrive.
Our vision for Livies
We, at Livies, viewed and made an offer on ‘the Pavilion’ over 2 years ago as we fell in love with the character of the building and its potential to provide a wonderful space at the heart of the community. Livies wants to create somewhere where the local community can come together in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our business will plug the gap experienced by parents and carers of young children, providing a place for families to eat, hang out and learn together. We see the Pavilion as the perfect space for our first cafe and are very excited to bring our vision to life whilst maintaining the beauty and character of the existing building.
We want to run an open plan café on the ground floor providing food and drink to either have in or takeaway. The aim is to provide healthy food which appeals to adults and children. There is an intention to provide both soft and limited alcoholic drinks, but not to have a late licence.
On the first floor will be two large rooms which will provide classes that will appeal to those using the family café such as baby massage, antenatal classes, adult yoga and pilates. A smaller room is proposed to be used for 1-to-1 sessions. The spaces on this floor would also be available to rent for children’s parties, events and meetings.
Being mindful of the character of the surrounding area comprising residential properties, the proposed operating hours for the cafe will be 8am-6pm with potentially an 8pm closing on Friday and Saturday evenings. The venue spaces will have the ability to be accessed separately for classes (attended by small groups) that may run into the evening such as the antenatal classes but with the expectation that all activity on site would cease no later than 9pm.
Our focus is on families and future generations, sustainability and biodiversity are at the heart of the development. We want families to engage with biodiverse surroundings, meaning that we hope to build a kitchen garden, attract minibeasts and bats and use rain gardens.
